Ideas on Choosing Interior Paint Colours

You are planning on redecorating your home and you are excited to get going. You have made your lists and you have checked off and identified what you need but there is still a gaping hole in your plans. You simply have no idea what colours to choose for your interior. This is where you start to panic and we know what comes next, you start calling in the professionals. Instead of reaching for the yellow pages and burning a hole in your pocket, why not try to save by doing it on your own?
First of all, there are a a couple of key things which will either make or break a design. One being the overall colour scheme and the other thing the wall and ceiling colours. Occasionally without even realizing it, you can have these matters in such clashing proximity to one another that one can hardly stay and look at your room. So one thing that you absolutely must consider when you are redecorating your home is the interior paint colours.
For one thing, they should truly fit with the overall colour scheme you are applying to the rest of the room. Even if the interior paint colours play off your colour scheme, they might be a few shades lighter or darker than it truly should be. This holds particularly true when picking out the proper interior paint colours not just for your walls but your ceiling as well.
The ceiling is always a tricky subject where painting is concerned, and unless you have large spaces, then you might like to stay away from anything too complicated. A lot of folks go wrong in this step of their interior designing process because they try too much to give their ceilings character and this is where they make the mistake.
Unless you are dead certain of the effect you are going to achieve by applying these colours to your ceilings, then I would strongly suggest that you either leave it as it is or just whitewash it.
By applying the same shade or even a lighter shade of the interior paint colours you are using for the room, it can be a huge mistake this lowers the height of the room by bringing the visual height of the ceiling further down, making the room look smaller unless you choose a soft pastel colour.
If you really do want to have bold interior paint colours, then I would suggest going with the walls. However, this must be done carefully and sparingly so as not to overpower the room. Otherwise, the same thing will happen with the walls as they did with the ceiling and you will discover that the room closes in on itself. The only way this can work is if you have big airy spaces which unfortunately, not many of us actually have.
As you can see, the interior paint colours have a lot of dominance in the ultimate look and feel of any room, and as I mentioned earlier, it is one the factors which can make or break a room. So go easy on the vivid colours and stay away from the ceilings, and you should be alright in your interior decorating efforts.
